Slate & Royce was born at the family dinner table, not in a startup incubator. We're two single parents from central Illinois who found connection, comfort, and joy through cooking.

What started as quick dinners turned into creative experiments, and then into something more. In this we found a deeper truth: exceptional cooking isn't just about nourishment—it's about connection, comfort, and joy.

As our relationship blossomed in the kitchen, we grew increasingly frustrated with disposable and toxic kitchenware that undermined the care we put into our cooking. The disconnect was clear: we were creating memorable meals with forgettable tools. We didn't want cheap, forgettable kitchenware. We wanted tools that felt intentional—beautiful enough to display, sturdy enough to use daily, designed with meaning.

That's how Slate & Royce was born.
